The 10 mL syringe flow test

Use the right syringe. A 10 mL slip-tip syringe with a scale length of 61.5 mm (the BD style shown in IDDSI materials). Other syringes give wrong results.

  1. Remove the plunger and cover the nozzle with a finger.
  2. Fill to the 10 mL line with the drink, mixed and at serving temperature.
  3. When you press Start, uncover the nozzle and let it flow. We’ll time exactly 10 seconds and sound a cue.
  4. At the cue, cover the nozzle again and read how many mL remain.
